OK, this got my attention....I have not (so far) found much more info about it. I would love to try and find this site. Anybody else know much more about it?

I'm game. Awesome find. I am guessing this is in the north end of the Park?
Do you think this is it?

No, not convinced but I did see that also and is worth a trip to find out. His site has a number of different wreck sites in ABDSP that are worth looking into further. I think you are right about the north end though.

When I was driving back with my son last weekend I noticed a VERY bright and large shiny object or reflection of something on one the Laguna ridges. It was not near a trail or anything, it was in a deep ravine and both my son and I were trying to figure out what it might be. I thought maybe a car wreck or something but it really was way too far away from anything to be a car, an airplane wreck never crossed my mind until I saw this guy's pictures.

Interesting.
I could also fire off an email to Mark Jorgensen to see if he has ever heard of it.
Looks like it is in a really remote area

i am not thinking North end of ABSP because the mountains with that level of remoteness such as the Santa Rosas do not have that level of rock (at least the parts of the Santa Rosas that I have been to).

Hard to tell though as there are not a lot of pics of the surroundings and it is one big park.

Has anybody found this wreck. It is way cool! I'm also thinking South ABSP due to the small boulders. Maybe in the Jacumba or Sawtooth Mountains . I tried emailing somebody that's been to the site on one of the plane wreck search boards, but I've had no response. Anybody have any luck? --mitch---

I haven't put too much effort into finding this one. I did find several of the pieces from another wreck in Blair Valley though. You can see some pictures here

Did you folks ever find this plane?
http://joeidoni.smugmug.com/Aircraft-Crash-Sites/A/11558268_JnGUE#818002961_s9gHV

I hiked to it last week--its near Agua Cailente.

and the Four Winds of the Earth, and the infinite arch of God's sky,
you shall not have understanding of the Desert's lure. ...

If you love the Desert and live in it, and lie awake at night under its
low-hanging stars, you know you are a part of the pulse-beat of the Universe,
and you feel the swing of the spheres through space, and you hear through
the silence the voice of God speaking".

Very interesting! I've come across a couple but never knew about this or the one near Blair either. Anybody see a link between this wreckage and the ejection seat Daren found recently?
Btw, I tried to summit Whale Pk from Pinyon Mtn w/my kids yesterday and failed because the snow was too deep. We also got turned back by deep snow and buried cholla trying to overland it from Dos Cabezas Spring to the Goat Cyn Trestle, crazy!

I am pretty sure the ejection seat I found belongs to it, PM me if you want to exchange notes....Thumbs Up

You can use the attach files link right below the "add message" button and then in your post put this code in

For more than one picture just keeping changing the att1 to att2, att3,att4 etc...
The other way is to upload them to something like Flickr, Picassa, etc and use the image link code in your post

Hope that helps,
Daren

I Found a jet fighter wreck near plaster city near the ABDSP border and lots of 50 Cal brass shell casings. Also found a pile of titanium from the turbine engines. Maybe still out there?
Also found single engine aircraft wrecks on Otay mountain and several on the San Gorgonio Mtns.
I saw crashed single engine aircraft on GE in ABDSP a while ago but can't find it now!!!

When you did this trip did you camp near the crash site? Looks like a pretty steep and rocky climb.

I'm thinking of going out to Anza borrego tomorrow before it rains on Monday. If somebody could give me a bit more details on the location of the wreck that dsefcik mentioned I would greatly appreciate it. If not, my alternative would be to hike up Whale peak, maybe the shorter North approach, but any info on snow conditions up there? Hikeable? Thanks, and Happy Holidays to all the desert enthusiasts.

It is a day hike from the camp ground, head up moonlight trail and it is up a drainage before you drop down into Inner Pasture.
