Woke up to a wet, rainy day on the coast so decided to head out to the Anza Borrego Desert to see how the desert wildflowers had progressed since our last trip. The rain followed us all the way to the Tecate Divide but disappeared once we began the descent into Ocotillo.
It was nice to see the Desert Sand Verbena in full bloom in the southern washes. The purple ground cover is spectacular. There is also a great display of Desert Primrose and Desert Lilies interspersed among the Sand Verbena. While I don’t like the term “Super Bloom”, 🌸 I really can’t imagine a more impressive display. 😉
It looks like southern Anza Borrego may be close to hitting its’ wildflower peak. Will head out in a couple weeks to get a wildflower update so stay tuned. 🌻
