A few weeks ago my son and I took a quick trip out to check on a rumored washout of the railroad tracks at the mouth of Myer's creek. Here's what we found.

I know hurricane Kathleen wiped out part of the line in that area in 1976. I wonder if it was the same spot.

Any reports of tracks getting taken out in the gorge? Landslides etc?

No word on the line through the gorge. It wouldn't surprise me if there was some damage. I'm looking for a window in my schedule to get out there in the next couple of weeks.
With the desert season now open in itching to get out there.

Was out the next day and S2 was washed out with lots of debris still covering every wash that crossed the road. Didn't get any railroad pics but do have a few from the Tropical Storm Kathleen booklet by James L. Larson which is still floating around the internet.

I live on the south side of 8. The houses are built these 5 ft high berms. The street had 3 ft of water . All the storm drains were plugged with dirt from previous storms. Most of El Centro was flooded.
I want to check out the carrizo creek area where the water runs through prob ht the gorge area also later this month.
