Have some transfer case issues to deal with, but the motor sounds amazing.

A long time ago I used to be a mechanic at a dealer. There used to be a used car lot across the street that had less than the cream of the crop vehicles. The best comment I heard about that place was they used to start the cars in the morning and someone said "Sounds like they are starting up a bunch of diesels!" That comment was made 40 years ago and I always think of it when I hear a diesel! I know, I know... it's the pump/rail! Glad to hear you got this running sweet and most off-road mags lament that the manufacturers don't offer diesels in Jeeps, etc.

Yeah diesels are great for 4x4 vehicles since they make their max torque at low rpms. They also get decent fuel economy relative to their gasoline counterparts and have lots of low end torque. Would love to see a Jeep Rubicon offered as a diesel
New diesel's such as our new VW Golf TDI are pretty quiet, although you do get that distinct diesel clatter which I love

Would you be interested in a photoshoot out in the desert? I am a young automotive photographer and will be traveling to Borrego in search of new portfolio material.

Quite possibly. Send me an email at mudrunner@gmail.com
The HZJ80 is nice but the FJ40 might me a bit more photogenic. Driving it out is a pain though since it is pretty slow on freeway It is currently topless so it even looks better
