Never quite made it to the old Carrizo Stage Station.
The water up Carrizo Creek got pretty deep and since no one was around I opted not to venture further up. Ended up trying to hike to it but got semi-lost and had to abandon the quest.

Here are some of the pics

I like the frozen pictures, that same night the water pipes in my house froze..damn cold here in SD. What exactly is supposed to be at the old station? Also, how is that road down into Canyon Sin Nombre, could my truck do it? or too sandy? I only have vague memories of that canyon, my dog got bit by a rattlesnake there and died within minutes, that was about 20 years ago and I have not since ventured in.

Hey Daren
Truck would have no problem
One twisty section but most is easy
Nothing like Carrizo Gorge
Bummer about your dog :-(

There are suppose to be a few posts left at the site

And here is some interesting info

How thick was that ice?

Thanks for those links David,
Ice was not too thick but nevertheless showed how cold it got out there on the previous night.
My sleeping bag wasn't quite as warm as I had hoped :-(

Worst part was I was less than a 1/2 mile away according to my GPS and I could see the station posts from a nearby hill. Problem was there was a huge thicket of carrizo and catclaw between me and the stage station.

Going to look at the map again and give it another go at some point.

Bob, if you are free today, I am gonna go walk my dog and then head back out to try and find the train parts today. I suppose I could do the train station instead, is that what you are asking??
