Hard to get places in Anza Borrego which require 4WD or hiking
Sheep Canyon campground road conditions?

Thinking of heading to Sheep Canyon campground next week. Anyone know anything about the road conditions to the campground?

I drove to the middle of Collins Valley at the end of May. The roads were in good shape all the way. Water was about 6" at the 2nd crossing. The usual half mile rough patch is still rough. I went north at the road split in Collins toward Wash BM so I don't know what the rest of the road to Sheep Canyon Campground is like.

Coyote Canyon is closed !! Went out Wednesday to find the gate locked at third crossing. Sign says closed to vehicles and hikers. As we drove out a park maintenance worker said the recent rains damaged the road. Not sure why it is closed to hikers. I would call the rangers if you plan a trip out there to see if it is open.
