For as many years as I can remember my wife and I have gone out to Anza Borrego on Thanksgiving, or the day after depending on obligations, and cooked a turkey.
We pretty much have grilling a turkey in a Weber BBQ down to a science.
One year we through caution to the wind and tried the Imu Pit Method of cooking a turkey which did not work too well. Back to grilling after that year Anyone else have any desert turkey stories? edited by surfponto on 11/26/2012

That looks great Bob! Friends and I have a tradition of driving a cooked turkey, pumpkin pie, etc. out to any trailhead with a picnic table, hiking for a couple of hours so we're starving by the time we get back... and then it is mayhem. This year this Turkey Day hike was the east end of the Santa Ysabel Preserve. We saw a bunch of wild turkeys during the walk and an immature golden or bald eagle. Good-looking turkey....
