I agree. I also need some sort of racks for our Mountain Bikes.

By the way what did it cost you in gas to drive out to meet Daren? I spend approx $100 in diesel (or more) to get my rig out and back. I have seen some pretty cool rack systems out there. My father in law (an inventor)and I are working on a roof rack system for bikes that mount flat on the roof rather than up right. surfponto wrote:

I am about 12mpg diesel with a 3000 lb fully loaded camper and 7.3l 4x4.

Averaging close to 42mpg a tank combined freeway and stop and go. I want to do a road trip to really see what it can do. Apparently there is a couple who "hypermiled" their TDI for 1600 miles and got 84 mpg
