Drove up to Mt.Lguna last weekend to check out fire damage from last month's fire. I could not believe how green Blair Valley was and also the slope up up into Pinyon Mountain valley area. Here is one pic looking down on the desert and one north and then south from near Laguna Campground.

I love that view!

Been camping at s. carlsbad state beach for the last 25 years and the beach has always been rocky. Within the last year or so the north part of the beach is now covered in deep sand. With all the recent major fires in our area I can't help but think all the sand is due to all the erosion, can anyone shed some light on this?

View of the north beach at south carlsbad state beach which has been covered with rocks for as long as I can remember.

Hi Nolan,
Last year SANDAG dumped a "LOT" of sand as part of their sand replenishment project.
The beach by our place did the same thing.

One good winter storm and its' all gone, at least that is what i have seen in the past.
Very expensive project.
The way they built up the berm it caused more damage then good.

Here is a video of some of the problems it cause last year by our stairs.
