After booing at all of the Sunrise Powerlink executives and visitors to the SPL ground breaking I went out and hiked up Tule Mtn which was right down the road. Bob was supposed to go with me but he had to go back to work...bummer. It was a great day, t-shirt and shorts weather at 4,647' in December. I'll need to write a proper report after I get the pictures ready but here is a panorama of Carrizo Gorge from the top of Tule Mtn. It really is an incredible view.

Not too hard, I used the Pandora Plugin with The GIMP on a Linux machine.
Life is easy on Unix.

You say that like it's a bad thing to look like Edward Abbey.

:-) He was always one of my favorite authors. Have you heard of that documentary of the Monkey Wrench Gang?

Bob, I agree! I have read pretty much everything he wrote and just reread for the third time The Monkey Wrench Gang last summer. I had not heard that there was going to be a documentary but I always thought it would make a great movie; explosives, beer, the desert southwest, sex, roadtrips, and on and on, what more could you ask for. At one time I thought they were already making a movie with Jack Nicholson, Matthew McConnahey (don't know about the spelling on both of those names) but I never heard it was finished or even filmed. And it definitely was NOT a documentary. The trailer looks like a good for the documentary film.
Here are three of my favorite quotes in no particular order( I have a few of these on my FB page),
The essence of true wilderness is big mammals that can eat you. ~Edward Abbey
Life without music would be an intolerable insult. ~Edward Abbey
Mountains complement desert as desert complements city, as wilderness complements and completes civilization. ~Edward Abbey

Nice David I always liked The idea of wilderness needs no defense. It only needs more defenders.
