The stacked shells are very interesting. The chances of that happening naturally must be very high. I do most of my hiking this time of year at Daley Ranch in Escondido. Once time changes and there is more light later in the evening I can get to some other places farther from home. But this time of year Daley Ranch is about the only place I can get to once school is out and still get 5 miles on a trail. |

I went all the way through a couple of times in the late 80s and early 90s. On the first trip one of our group made it in a lifted 2 wheel drive truck, I think it was a Ford Ranger. This was pre bypass and he just blasted through the toughest sections and then walked back down the trail and drove his girlfriend's Samurai through for her. Going up through the willows was awesome but you didn't have much room to navigate. It was straight up the creek bed or don't go. Good times! |

I have been up into Harper Flat by coming up Harper Canyon only once. Definitely worth doing. It was a great hike but much longer and much more elevation gain than coming up through Pinyon Wash. I also have come into Harper Flat from Fish Creek Wash near Split Rock and Dave McCain Spring. Here is a link to the TR from the Harper Canyon trip.
