It's a little harder to steal the actual morteros, but people have tried. upset

I read thru a few of the threads, that is a very disheartening site...posts like "these were my keepers for the trip" and pictures showing handfuls of points.

One particular thread on that site was a query asking if anyone ever 'hunted ABDSP" (their vernacular for collecting points). No one replied, which makes me think the answer is a definite 'yes'. I'm actually part of the problem, once starting a thread here that used the word @rrowhe@d, so that a simple Google search with that word and anza borrego leads right to the thread and the general location discussed in the thread. I think my days of posting "triangular flaked stone" finds is over. In fact, maybe we should delete that whole thread to protect the resource. Bob? Daren?

Very, Very disturbing, many of those using the forum seem to be in So Cal....

Hopefully one day mylar balloons will be considered artifacts :0

***Everyone Please resist the urge to take thousand year old artifacts that will just end up sitting on your front porch for a 10-20 years at the most and then be lost forever.

did you see the post
"Great photos. Any luck in anza borrego?"
and then the reply
"Heading out THIS Wed. morning."
http://www.arrowheadology.com/forums/arrowhead-hunting-collecting/3632-good-news-bad-news.html

and this one
".I'll see if I can't post a pic of one of my favorites. I have cast this piece and it's on display in the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville, AR. It was found by Ralph Irwin in the Mason Valley of the Anza Borrego Desert in San Diego County, CA. This point Ben Stermer recognized as a Cahuilla."

another one
"You are in the SD area so I kow of a guy who found paleo in the ana borrego desert (right name??). he had the finest lake mojave I had ever seen. As you know all other old sitrs in or So cal area are under 10 feet plus of soil. I live near the base of the SB mts so it is just as easy for me to go into the desert than it is to go look in our SoCal mtns where all we find is more recent cultures of which you have posted very good success."

and this one
http://www.arrowheadology.com/forums/todays-finds-situ/40491-crescents-continued.html

the hits keep coming
"Killer point! A serrated Desert Sierra. Ha! I am sure that type has a different name in the SD area. What type of material is that green stone? My friend hunts the SD area a lot and finds quite a lot of that material. He also found a nearly 5" Lake Mojave of that material in the Anza desert west of Salton sea. Congrats on that find."

Yikes Nolan, I hadn't realized there were THAT many references to AB on that forum, though I suspected as much. Yikes. I won't be showing or telling of any more @rrowhe@ds in my posts. upset
