Jeep lift questions

Hey guys - I've got a stock '03 Wrangler. I want to add larger tires, so would a body lift suffice? Or is it truly better to do the suspension lift (more costly). What products should I be looking at? I don't want to start messing with the factory stuff I keep hearing about, just a good basic lift. i don't plan on serious rock crawling, just want to be able to take on any trail out there. like Devil's dropoff, for example. Money is a big issue right now due to being a contractor in this horrible economy...... Thanks for any help!

I am sure David will respond. He has a nice tricked out jeep.
I would say suspension because of the better handling but like you say, those tend to be more expensive. edited by surfponto on 10/22/2012

Found this post on a jeep forum which may help you make a decision.

I would definitely go for the suspension lift. Depending on how big you want to go with tires will determine how much lift you need. I have 33" tires and a 3" Teraflex lift. It fits great and I have never had any rubbing. I also got the quick disconnects for the sway bar for better articulation and a new track bar to properly locate the front axle under the jeep. I got new ring and pinion gears, 4.56, to compensate for the larger tires size. David

You could always go with a Budget Boost for a cheap lift but you might be happier with a suspension lift.

If I want 32 - 33" tires, what am I talking about $-wise? And where can I go locally to get advice and the best prices? Thanks Guys!
