I was thinking it would be great to do a rally/camp out/hike for all forum users next season. I know many of us using this forum enjoy different things and we could incorporate most of them for all that are interested. Let me know if this is a possibility and we could start planning something.

That sounds like a good idea (the campout, not the santa rosa traverse!) We could have a central location for a group campout, then various outings based on the variety of interests on the forum. (4x4, hiking, exploring, scat, etc)
Could have a contest to see who can find the most balloons over the weekend!!!

It would be cool to do it on a weekend with a meteor shower, it appears the Leonid meteor shower will peak around the weekend of Nov 16th and 17th. (1000 meteors per hour!)

I was thinking more of a remote car camp location than a multi day backpack trip along with a full day hike/exploration or 1 night backpack. It would be great if everyone going had a 4x4 vehicle to get to collins valley, hapapha flat, or Piedras grandes/dos cabezas area or another similar location. From there we could plan an all day hike or backpack trip an then stargazing. Collins valley to palm canyon hike?
Another option is to allow a car campsite location in an accessible 2wd location in little Blair, and hike whale peak camp on the summit type trip with others option of a 1/2 day hike smugglers or yaquitec. Or Indian gorge camp and rockhouse canyon (southern end) hike. The options are endless and it depends on all those who wanted to attend.
So it would be more of a selected campsite and various options based on all attending. If you wanted to do a multi day trip it would be a great opportunity to hang out for a bit and get picked up or dropped off somewhere.

I would probably be up for any of those. Indian Gorge has day hikes and also great backpack trips into Canebrake, possibly youth friendly since there are jeep roads once you get down in there. I would be happy to lead a group out there if wanted. In Indian Gorge you have False Sombrero, Torote Cyn, trails over to the palms in Mtn Palm Spring area, etc...

Count me in. I would be up for anything other than one on Daren's epic hike's. And the weekend of Nov 16-17 gives us plenty of time to plan.
