Colorado Desert Archaeology Society Presentation W H A T O L L A S C A N T E L L U S March 27, 2014
The CDAS Program scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Discovery Center at the Visitor Center - "What Ollas Can Tell Us" by Suzanne Griset, PhD, Principal Investigator SWCA Environmental Consultants, Tucson, Arizona. As a recipient of a Robert Begole Grant, Dr. Griset is analyzing whole vessels from ABDSP. Many of these ollas are currently displayed in the cases in the Discovery Room at the Visitor Center and each has a story to tell. The public is welcome.

Sounds interesting. Don't think I can make it but if you do please give us a report. I read that some ollas in the area were up to 30 inches in diameter! For storage of acorns to be cached in caves or sheltered areas. edited by rockhopper on 3/17/2014 edited by rockhopper on 3/17/2014

Here's acouple of interesting pics.
I posted this previously. This olla is on display in the Visitors discovery center. Found in 1970.
This one was found about a mile from our old house in E. Encinitas by a local resident many years ago.
San Diego State University did a "Dig" close by our old house on a hill near a creek back in 1974 and found "thousands" of artifacts. edited by rockhopper on 3/17/2014
